Some Characteristics of Acyclovir Oral
Some of the
characteristics of Acyclovir
oral, an antiviral drug prescribed for the
sexually transmitted disease such as genital herpes
are as follows:
Acyclovir is an anti-viral drug prescribed
for the effective treatment of genital herpes
virus. Though the drug is available in various
formulations, perhaps the best mode of intake
is in its oral form. Some of the salient characteristics
of Acyclovir oral are that it has no known depletion
or interference factor. Second, there are no known
factors, which may show that the drug will reduce
side effects or prevent the same, as the drug
has significant number of side effects.
As for the interaction with dietary
supplements, herbs, and other herbal products,
this has yet to be determined, and both clinical
as well as controlled human research is still
under way to assess the nature of interactions
with the subject drug.
Though the Acyclovir oral drug has
been observed to be of immense popularity as well
as effective in the treatment of various categories
of genital herpes; one of the greatest drawbacks
observed from the use of Acyclovir oral is that
it has a poor record of absorption with the patient's
blood system.
According to one estimate, only
about 15 to 20 percent of the antiviral drug enters
the patients plasma stream, in turn creating problems
for the patient such as the need for an increased
amounts of doses and the corresponding increases
in the cost of the overall treatment. |
