Cerebral Palsy is a sickness occurring due to several continual conditions. Cerebral palsy has a direct impact on the muscular firmness, movement and co-ordination in the human body. The most credible reason of cerebral palsy is injuries to one or more parts of the human brain. These wounds in the brain are normally induced in new born infants, during or after birth. The damage to the brain thus forbids the infant to control muscular movements.

Cerebral palsy can occur in the following stages:-

• When the child is in the womb
• At some stage in birth
• The first few months of child after birth

There are different types of cerebral palsy, which are mostly classified according to the muscular disorders in the body. Some of the major and known types of cerebral palsy includes:

SPASTIC CEREBRAL PALSY:

The most common occurrence of muscular disorder in infants is referred to as Spastic cerebral palsy. It has been observed and confirmed that eight out of every ten infants suffering from cerebral palsy have “spastic palsy”. In this type of Cerebral Palsy, the child develops tight muscular groups due to the damage in the brain. The muscular tightness prevents the child from moving properly. The child suffering from spastic cerebral palsy also does not have the muscular ability to lift objects, and such infants cannot perform general physical activities.

ATHETOID CEREBRAL PALSY:

This is a rare type of cerebral palsy, occurring in ten percent of cerebral patients. This type is caused by brain-damage to the particular areas of the mind, namely the cerebellum or basal ganglia. These parts of the human brain help the human body to maintain a firm posture and enable the human body to carry out muscular functions. They are also responsible for generating signals in the human body that enable a person to talk, feed and do many other activities that require the movement of muscles. Infants suffering from cerebral palsy develop muscular abnormality and this condition may also affect proper movement and resting ability of a child.

ATAXIC CEREBRAL PALSY:-

This refers to muscular contractions and inability of the muscles to properly support the human body during physical movement. This type of cerebral palsy occurs in 5 percent patients that are diagnosed and have cerebral palsy. The children suffering from ataxic cerebral palsy have the inability to walk steadily and also suffer from continuing instability and abnormality of the muscular parts of the body.

MIXED CEREBRAL PALSY:-

This type of cerebral palsy occurs when damage is caused to those parts of the brain, which invoke more than one type of cerebral palsy sickness. This refers to an infant having mixed cerebral palsy, in which a person may have two or more conditions of cerebral palsy. The most common type of mixed cerebral palsy occurring in children includes the combination of both Spastic and Athetoid cerebral palsy.
