Cialis Helps Men With Erectile Dysfunctions

Cialis or tadalafil was approved by the FDA. It is the third oral medication that has been approved for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men.

Cialis is different from other Viagra (sildenafil citrate) and Levitra, (vardenafil) because of its longer time to stay in the body. It causes an erection by the relaxation of muscles of male sex organ that results in the increase of blood flow into the organ. As a result an erection is produced.

Contraindications are found if Cialis is taken with nitrates such as poppers that are recreational nitrates. The use of nitrates is strictly prohibited just after the use of Cialis. If a situation comes in which the use of nitrates is a must in life threatening situation then it is checked that whether 48 hours have been passed after the use of Cialis or not.

If 48 hours have been passed then the use of nitrates is considered. The availability of close hemodynamic monitoring is also a must before considering the use of nitrates. If Cialis is used for erection problems with antihypertensive drugs, the blood pressure is decreased to an additional 4 to 10 mm Hg.

It is advised that patients should not repeat the use of 10 mg dose of Cialis within 72 hours they are also taking some other drugs such as ketoconazole (Nizoral), erythromycin, itraconazole (Sporanox), protease inhibitors and some other drugs that are used for the inhibition of the CYP3A4 enzyme system.

Studies of Cialis used for sexual dysfunctions have excluded the patients that are suffering from cardiovascular diseases because there is a very limited knowledge about the safety profile of cardiovascular patients. Very less number of reports about Priapism is obtained with all of the drugs that come in the same class.

It cannot be said that long term safety has been established. As the duration of action of Cialis is very long, patients are found to be exposed more to its effect and for a longer time period as compared to their expose to the effects of other drugs such as vardenafil or sildenafil.

If the patients are suffering from mild to moderate hepatic dysfunction, then it is advised that they take the maximum dose of 10 mg of Cialis and not more than it. If the patients are suffering from severe hepatic dysfunction then they are not advised to take Cialis.
