Initiatives Of Imparting Health Educational Programs
By The Department Of Defense Education Activity (DODEA)
The Department
of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) addresses
the health educational needs of the student
community through various programs through coordinated
efforts of the parents of the students and members
of the community. In addressing such programs,
the Department of Defense Education Activity
(DoDEA) assists and prepares the student community
in making wise decisions concerning their personal,
family and community health. The category of
students addressed through such programs includes
pre-kindergartners through class 12.
The
Purpose Of Health Education Performance Standards
Programs
One of such programs developed and designed
for students for helping make their own decisions
in their personal lives on matters of health
education is the department's 'Health Education
Performance Standards'. This particular program
covers a six-year curriculum and takes into
account the development and assessment adoption
cycle of the students, as well as serves as
the primary framework of the health education
curriculum.
Programs pursued by the Department
of Defense Education Activity also imparts training
and guidance to the teacher's community in areas
of planning and learning, in turn making them
competent in assessing the respective students'
accomplishment with respect to the minimum set
of standards of the health education.
Yet another area addressed
by the Department of Defense Education Activity
is the educational requirements of special children,
or students with disabilities. In recognizing
the need of education for ALL, the DoDEA duly
serves to provide lifelong skills through educational
programs that are not only free of cost, but
also duly comply with the requisite Disabilities
Act.
Pursuing the belief that
all children can learn, the DoDEA provides equal
access to high
quality education as well as the needed
opportunities to challenge life and meet higher
levels of accomplishment. The aim is thus to
provide educational programs which inspire as
well as prepare these special children to face
the hurdles of life, as well as make their transition
to post-secondary learning and employment ever
simpler.
