Salient Aspects Of The Prevalent Health Education
In Our Country
A brief look into
the health
education reveals that there exists a huge
network of PPO's across the expanse of the nation,
a system of socialized medicine, and a rationing
treatment system. Yet, all these aspects are
mere circles in which the entire health sector
evolves, and that too without any significant
progress.
Thus, there exists a severe need
for assessing the root causes of the prevalent
medical system, and question the system that
somewhat appears to be stymied, instead of blindly
pursuing the same in a rigid fashion.
Essential
Health Education For Medical Students
Though there are numerous sectors, which need
practical overhauling, one that appears to be
the strongest is the education standard imparted
at pre-medical level. Such is the extent of
this impulsive form of education and irrelevant
level of pre-medical education, that by the
time a graduate doctor leaves medical school,
he or she has forgotten most of what he/she
learnt.
The age-old practice of memorizing
entire texts, learning to pass the exam, and
forgetting when the degree is earned is not
only damaging to the respective medical graduate.
It is also placing a severe strain on the mental
and educational capabilities of the medical
students.
The American system of medical
education requires a 12-year study period of
higher education, yet in practice the system
of medical education is of little value to the
new graduates.
As they severely lack the
practical skills otherwise earned through assisting
practicing physicians and studying/taking patient histories. One of
the measures suggested to overcome this problem
is to spend some time spent with practicing
physicians and at the same gain some experience
by taking down patient histories.
These two primary yet important
steps can truly earn these medical graduates
the needed practical skills, as well as improve
the health care system of the country. |
