Symptoms Of Kidney Cysts
Symptoms generally increase with age.
The most common symptoms are:
- Pain in the back and the sides
Pain and infection are the only symptoms that
occur from the presence of hepatic cysts, occurring
in 50% of affected patients. Pain occurs more
frequently in patients with kidneys larger than
15 cm, and older patients with enlarged cysts,
also suffer from abdominal pain. Cyst hemorrhage,
clot, stone, or infection can also cause intense
pain.
- Headaches
- Urinary tract infections
Patients with ADPKD, often develops urinary
tract infections. Which can spread from the
urinary tract to the cysts
in the kidneys.
Hypertension
Approximately 10-15% of children and 60-70% of
adults go under hypertension, before the attack
of kidney failure. The rise in blood pressure
is expected to come after the renal damage by
cysts.
A direct relationship exists between
the volume of the kidneys and severity of the
hypertension.
Hematuria (Blood
In The Urine)
This occurs in 30-50% of affected
patients.
Tangible, two-sided winged masses produce in patients
with advanced ADPKD Symptoms related to renal failure (paleness, uremic
fetor, dry skin, edema etc) are seldom found.
Kidney function is utmost important
for physical development, children suffering from
with ARPKD are usually smaller than average size.
ACKD builds up in kidneys causing long-term damage
and scarring, it is often detected with dialysis
and terminate renal disease. About 90 percent
of people on dialysis for 5 years develop ACKD.
The cysts of ACKD may bleed. Patients with ACKD
usually seek help because they notice blood in
their urine. |
