Social institutions are places that help to control society. This takes place particular mechanisms that they have in place. Schools are examples of social institutions for control; it is through schools that society is educated and taught about better societal living. Today with the knowledge that teachers and school dieticians have, it is possible to teach students how to eat healthy foods. In view of this, kids could be taught what exactly is healthy and what isn't. this means that they could be taught about the importance of food substances like carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. These are the essentials that they should be taught about as these are the very things that make up a person's diet.

Teaching kids about carbohydrates would make them more aware of the kinds of carbohydrates and the forms they may be in. This includes all the important and wholesome foods as well as the junk foods.

Through this they can be taught which foods they should avoid and why they should avoid them. In addition to teaching children about carbohydrates, they can be taught about the functions of proteins and fats as well. It should be emphasized that proteins are more important than fats in a sense as it is a body building material, which one should consume in order to grow faster. In view of this it should be forgotten that fats also have important functions, but one should also be careful not to consume substances that are too rich in fats as they may cause cholesterol to build up in one's body.

Children need to be taught about cholesterol and its hazards. They should be taught about heart disease and stroke conditions in very basic language so that the children get a good idea about the condition.

In addition to educating students about conditions with cholesterol increase, they should also be advised on the importance of food substances and the provision of vitamins and minerals. They must be told about how diseases can be prevented by consuming the correct quantities of foods, as research has pin-pointed which food substances are capable of combating particular diseases and health conditions.

In addition to simply explaining to kids the advantages of food substances in preventing tem from getting certain diseases, it must be emphasized that foods also need to be consumed in their correct quantities for them to have their intended effects. If foods are not consumed their correct quantities one is liable to develop health problems.

The age factor should also be included in the sense that children should also be aware of the energy requirement according to their age.

When children are younger, they need to be taught about eating the correct foods for more energy especially if they are particularly active and into sports. The action of carbohydrates in this regard needs to be taught, so that they are more aware of their diets.

Many children do not like to eat a good breakfast, and for this the importance of carbohydrates in the morning needs to be stressed on. Children could be told that they require this food so that their brains receive energy during the first part of the day, and this will help them think properly in class and in other activities as well.

If children are taught the right things about their diets, there is every chance that they would take the advice. This is because no child would want to avoid doing well in school and develop health problems.
