Leading Causes of Death in Males


Every year a large number of men die as a result of different diseases all over the world. The most common among the diseases are heart diseases as well as well as cancer, diabetes and fatal accidents. Some of the reasons that lead to early death are careless attitudes towards diseases and neglecting one’s health.

Every day, men of different ages and cultures face death all over the globe. It is observed that the ratio of male deaths is higher than that of female deaths. The main reason given for this is the amount of work and stress that men take as well as the alcohol intake and working in dangerous situations.

One reason which attributes to high death rate among males is their indulgence in illicit sex, engaging in fight, rash driving, physical inactivity and use of drugs.

Leading Causes of Death in Males

There are a number of factors that can be held responsible for high death rate among men. However, the top leading causes are diseases of heart such as stroke.

Heart Diseases

These days, most of the men in their young ages develop heart diseases. It is caused due to lack of physical activity as well as imbalanced diet. Men develop heart diseases 10-15 years earlier than women, thus increasing the risk of heart attack and early death.

Cancer

Lung cancer caused due to excess of smoking is the second largest cause of death in men. Prostate and colorectal cancer both of which are caused due to intake of high fat diet lead men to an early death.

Chronic Respiratory Disease

It is one of the leading causes of death in men caused due to inhalation of different chemicals and smoke. It is associated with lung cancer as well as chronic bronchitis.

Unintentional Accidents or Injuries

Motorway accidents and injuries prove fatal and lead to death. According to an estimate, male drivers die more in accidents then women drivers due to speeding, rash driving and other reasons.

Diabetes

Over weight and high cholesterol lead to diabetes which proves fatal, especially if care is not taken. It affects the way the body uses blood sugar. If diabetes is not treated properly, it leads to damage of many body organs such as legs, arms and eyes.

Influenza and Pneumonia

These diseases are very dangerous for men whose lungs have already been affected by smoke and asthma. The risk of death from influenza or pneumonia is high for people who already have heart diseases or week immune system.

Alzheimer's Disease – Sensibility

Males who lose their sensibilities are often confined to bed where they have a risk of developing various diseases such as pneumonia and other vascular diseases. The end result of these diseases is death in most of the men.

Nephritis and Nephrosis – Kidney Disease

One of the causes of kidney failure is due to excessive use of medicines like Anvil, Motrin and Aspirin. Kidney failure can also result from high blood pressure or diabetes.

Intentional Self-Harm – Suicide

Men commit suicide four times more than women partly due to reasons such as work load, family problems, financial problems or excessive use of drugs. Depression is the major risk factor in committing suicide.

Assault – Homicide

A lot of men also die in assault incidents such as robbery or acts of terrorism. Most of the people killed in assault or homicide belong to various age groups and are not likely to have any risk of diseases.

The above mentioned causes of death in men are not the only ones. There may be many other leading causes of death in males, which may be particular to any society or sect.
