Interaction Of Meridia With Other Drugs
Various studies
on the affects and interactions of Meridia reveal
that there is evidence to suggest that Meridia
should not be administered with other drugs
due to the severe implications on some of the
vital organs of the human body.
Perhaps it is these set of reasoning
that individuals suffering from serious conditions
are advised to reveal their entire medical histories
before starting intake of Meridia for reducing
weight.
In informing the respective physician,
the patient must reveal whether he or she is
using other weight reducing medications, both
under prescription as well as through self-diagnosis.
For example drugs which serve to
raise the blood pressure, such as decongestants,
or cough suppressants, drugs used for psychiatric
medications, those used for treating and controlling
migraines, or other drugs which cause drowsiness,
sedatives or anti0-siezure drugs, all serve
to aggravate the prevalent health conditions,
hence all these category of drugs should be
avoided. Even if necessary, they must be administered
under the direct supervision and advice of the
prescribing physicians.
As for the reports gathered
by a number of welfare organizations and citizen
groups, it was revealed that Meridia has been
found to hazardous due to some of the severe
and adverse conditions resulting thereof.
For example, pregnant women
have been found to suffer seriously as the use
of Meridia has resulted in the deaths of fetus.
In similar context, patients already suffering
from various ailments of the heart including
cardiovascular diseases died when they used
the Meridia drug for reducing weight.
This was particularly pointed
out by a representative of a Citizen's Group,
who cited "irresponsibility" on the
part of the company namely Abbott Laboratories,
the manufacturers of the said drug. Thus, it
was suggested that patients already on medications
for heart diseases as well as pregnant women
were advised against the use of Meridia, due
to its hazardous results on the said category
of patients.
