Precise cause of lupus is unknown, but the cause
of lupus is combination of genetic, environmental
such as infections and antibiotics. And hormonal
factors that work together can be causes of
the lupus. This disease is autoimmune it means
there is a fault in the body’s immune
system. Cause is different form person to person.
Lupus can run in families indicates that its
development has a genetic basis, but only 10%
lupus victims will have a close relative( parent)
who already has lupus. Some of the factors that
can causes lupus include:
- Infections
- Antibiotics
- Ultraviolet light
- Extreme stress
- Drugs
- Hormonal factors can explain why lupus
occurs more often in women than men the increase
of lupus symptoms before menstrual period
and during pregnancy that hormones particularly
estrogen and at this stage there are chances
for lupus.
Scientists are working hard to find out the
exact cause of lupus. At present there is no
cure for lupus but scientists are reaching to
find out causes and cure for lupus.
Symptoms Of Lupus
It is not easy to recognize early lupus symptoms.
Each patient’s experience with lupus is
different. Mostly symptoms can range form mild
to severe and can appear and disappear over
time. It can take months or years for physician
to diagnosis. Therefore it is important for
the patient to observe carefully the symptoms
and explain clearly to his/her physician because
this observation helps the physician to diagnosis
the lupus.
Some general feelings of illness will be experienced
before lupus symptoms. Common symptoms of lupus
include:
- Unexplained fever
- Painful or swollen joints
- Extreme fatigue
- Chest pain when breathing
- Hair loss
- Headaches, dizziness, depression
- Anemia
- Skin rash especially across the nose and
cheeks
- Other rashes (any part of the body)
- Pale or purple fingers or toes due to clod
or stress
- Swelling around eyes or legs
- Weight loss
- Photosensitivity it means sun or light
sensitivity
- Joint swelling ( arthritis)
- Muscle ache ( myalgia)
- In some cases only skin or joints are affected.
On the other hand some patients feel symptoms
in many parts of their body.
It shows how seriously a body system is affected.
Most commonly joints and muscles are affected,
and cause of arthritis. Skin rashes are also
very common. No two lupus patients have identical
symptoms and complaints.
Lupus can also affect the following systems:
- Lungs
Lupus can affect on the lungs some lupus patients
develop pleuritis, that causes chest pain.
Lupus patients also can get pneumonia. Therefore
chest pain and difficulty breathing can indicate
serious problems.
- Kidney Inflammation
Kidneys are very important for overall health.
It is possible that patients do not have symptoms
of kidney inflammation, but kidney inflammation
can be identified through abnormal urine test
and kidney sickness is one of the dangerous
parts of lupus and it requires intensive drug
treatment to prevent permanent damage.
- Blood Disorders
Lupus patients can develop anemia or leucopenia
(shortage of white blood cells).
Blood disorders can be the result of the disease
on the blood or it can be due to advanced
kidney or vascular disease. There is risk
for blood clots among the lupus patients.
- Brain
Lupus may effect to brain but fortunately
serious brain disease is rare. Lupus can be
cause of headache, mood changes, disturbances,
vision problems and stroke. Therefore in needs
urgent treatment.
Lupus has no particular symptoms and it difficult
to diagnosis form early symptoms therefore it
is very important and necessary for the patients
to observe the symptoms and try to consult your
