Scabies
Scabies
is referred to a rash like infection that appears
on the skin. This infection appears worldwide
to many people around the world. The infection
is spread through constant contact with people
in places such as family members, hospitals,
academic institutions and nursing homes.
The spread of this disease is transmitted
by a person who is already plague-ridden with
scabies. The disease is more likely to spread
in people who are sexual partners or by family
members where the sharing of clothes, towels
and most often the bedding.
The disease is diagnosed by looking at scraping
of the skin that has a rash on it. The scrapings
are then observed under a microscope for the
possibilities of mites, eggs or even droppings
left behind by Mites.
Diagnosis Of
Scabies
The diagnosis is very difficult as the amount
of mites that infest the whole body of any individual
will not be greater than ten. This means that
although that particular area of rash is not
infested there might be other rashes that could
be infested with mites. Individuals who are
most probable to be infected with this disease
are the elderly and the people who have weak
immune systems.
For the treatment there are lotions that are
available out there. There are normally available
in two categories; one is a milder one that
is usually given to women who are pregnant and
children, and a general lotion that belongs
to everyone else.
Before applying these lotions care should be
taken by asking a physicians advice and to follow
the instructions given by the manufacturers.
Normally a person is to apply the lotion from
the neck down till the toes and should be left
overnight. The next morning the individual should
bathe to clean the lotion of. All clothes and
bedding itinerary should be washed in hot water
and to be dried in the dryers at the hottest
temperature possible.
Treatments For
Scabies
This treatment should be given to people who
are diagnosed with scabies and their partners
and family members.
The treatment would normally take about 2 –
3 weeks to completely cure, but however the
irritation of the skin would still be there.
This may not mean that any individual is infected
with mites. If the itching is relentless consult
your doctor for further advice and medication.
