Interactions Of The Valtrex Antiviral Drug
The antiviral drug
Valtrex, also known by its generic name Valacycolvir
has been found to have negligible interaction
with vitamins, herbs and foods.
Thus, studies carried out on the
Valtrex antiviral drug show that it has no depletion
or interference action, side effects are present
as with all antiviral drugs, absence of any
supportive interaction, and evidence of an adverse
interactions.
A brief on the intake of Valtrex
antiviral drug and its interaction with foods
shows that though it can be taken with or without
foods, it is essential that the initial dosage
be reduced, in particular with patients suffering
from ailments of the kidney.
As for the interaction with other
drugs, studies have shown that probenecid with
the generic name of benemid and Cimetidine with
the generic and common name of Tagamet may act
as reducing agents for the elimination of valacyclovir.
This activity results in the increased
concentrations of the drug in the patients blood
system, in turn leading to common side effects
of Valtrex.
In discussing the side effects
of Valtrex antiviral drug generally prescribed
for the treatment of various types of herpes,
it was found that though there exists little
evidence to show that any evaluation of pregnant
women was ever carried out with respect to the
use of Valtrex antiviral drug.
The incidence of birth defects
in women using Valtrex was similar to those
not using the drug at all. It is however suggested
that pregnant women should exercise caution
on the use of Valtrex, and must weigh the risks
involved as compared to the risks for the fetus.
